Panic Three
Name three in five seconds. The room decides.
Panic Three is a five-second shouting game for a group of friends. One player is put on the spot each round: a prompt appears, such as 'Name 3 things that are round', and they tap Go. From that moment they have exactly five seconds to say three answers out loud. Everyone else watches, listens, and then votes on whether they made it. The player on the spot scores for beating the clock, and the judges score for calling it the way the room did.
Objective
One player is on the spot each round: they get a prompt, then five seconds to shout three answers. Everyone else judges whether they made it.
How to play
- The player on the spot sees a prompt like "Name 3 things that are round". Everyone can read it.
- They tap Go and have five seconds to say three answers out loud.
- When the clock ends, everyone else votes: Made it or Nope. Votes are secret until the reveal.
- A tie goes to the player on the spot. Then the spotlight moves to the next player.
Scoring
Made it: +2 for the player on the spot. Judges who voted with the final result get +1 each.
Example round
- It is Maya's turn. The card reads: 'Name 3 things you find in a kitchen drawer'. Everyone can see it, and Maya taps Go when she is ready.
- The screen turns red and a big five-second ring starts to drain. Maya shouts 'Spoon, scissors, tape!' before it hits zero.
- The other players each tap Made it or Nope. Four of the five say Made it, so Maya scores 2 points and the four who voted with the room score 1 point each.
Strategy tips
- Start talking the moment you tap Go. Thinking silently for three seconds leaves almost no time to say anything.
- Say each answer clearly and in order. If the judges cannot tell where one answer ends and the next begins, they will vote Nope.
- Keep answers short. A single word is worth the same as a long phrase, and it is much quicker to shout.
- When you are judging, be fair but firm. Decide before the round starts what counts, so a creative answer does not split the room.
Best with
Best with 3 to 10 players, though it already works with 2: one performer and one judge. Everyone plays from their own phone, so it works at a party, around a table or over a video call, and nobody needs any preparation. It is a good opener for a game night because a round lasts about a minute.
Variations
- Type your own prompt as the host for an in-joke round, such as 'Name 3 of Dad's catchphrases'.
- Agree a house rule that answers cannot repeat anything already said earlier in the session.
- Play a full round of turns so everyone gets the spotlight the same number of times, then check the scoreboard for the quickest thinker.
FAQ
How long do I get to answer?
Five seconds from the moment you tap Go. The card phase before that has its own short clock, so you can read the prompt first.
Can I see how the others voted?
Votes stay secret while the judging clock runs. Once the round ends, the results show how many said Made it and who voted which way.
How are points scored?
If the room says you made it, you score 2 points. Every judge whose vote matched the final result scores 1 point. A tie goes to the player on the spot.
