Guess Doodle is the fast, competitive cousin of a shared sketchpad game: one artist, one secret word, and everyone else typing frantic guesses into a live feed while the drawing fills in stroke by stroke. There's no partial credit for a close guess — first correct word takes the round, so it rewards speed as much as art skill.
Objective
One player draws a secret word live on a shared canvas. Everyone else races to type the exact word in the chat before anyone else does.
How to play
- One player is the Drawer and privately sees the secret word; everyone else sees only the canvas.
- The drawing appears live, stroke by stroke. No letters, no numbers, no symbols — pictures only.
- Guessers type guesses in the shared feed. The first person to type the exact word ends the round; if nobody gets it before the host closes the round, nobody scores.
Scoring
The first correct guesser scores 2 points and the Drawer scores 1 point. If nobody guesses before the round is closed, nobody scores.
Example round
- Ben is the Drawer and privately sees the word 'lighthouse'.
- He starts with a tall rectangle, then adds a rotating beam of light at the top.
- Cleo types 'tower' — wrong. Dan types 'candle' — also wrong.
- Ana sees the beam lines finish and types 'lighthouse' first, ending the round instantly.
- Ana scores 2 points for the fastest correct guess, and Ben scores 1 point as the Drawer since someone guessed it before the round closed.
Strategy tips
- As the Drawer, sketch the most recognizable silhouette of your word before adding detail — a rough outline that reads instantly beats a half-finished detailed drawing.
- As a guesser, type single-word guesses early and often rather than waiting for a 'sure thing', since only the first correct word counts and hesitation costs you the round.
- Watch the order strokes appear in, not just the final shape — the sequence often gives away scale or category (a roof line before walls suggests a building, not an animal) before the drawing is finished.
- If you're the Drawer and the clock is running out, add one bold distinguishing detail rather than refining what's already there — vague guesses need a decisive final stroke to convert.
